A new month brings with it a slew of new accommodation options to titillate travellers. March's most exciting hotel openings span the globe from Japan to Bali to the Big Easy. Here are four of the most hotly-anticipated new properties opening their doors this month.
Amanemu | Ise-Shima National Park, Japan
Aman's second property in Japan is the brand's first hot spring resort. Dubbed Amanemu, the twenty four suites and four villas are designed in an elegant style influenced by the country's traditional inns called ryokans. The 604-square-metre spa is the centrepiece of the property, with two private onsen (a hot spring bath) pavilions, a watsu pool, and four treatment suites.
Ace Hotel | New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
The uber-cool Ace Hotel brand's next property is stationed in New Orleans, in a 1920s building located in the city's Warehouse District. The former furniture store's stylish redesign comes courtesy of New York-based firm Roman and Williams, who gave it a dark, Art-Deco-meets-rock-and-roll vibe. The Ace Hotel New Orleans boasts 234 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a rooftop swimming pool.
Shangri-La at the Fort | Manila, Philippines
The third Shangri-La property to open in Manila isn't going for subtlety. The 250-metre-tall structure will be one of the tallest skyscrapers in the Philippines, encompassing a mix of hotel rooms, residences, and luxury “homes” on the top floors. Shangri-La at the Fort's luxe amenities include seven restaurants, a massive fitness centre, in-room spa services, and Wi-Fi-enabled limousine transfers.
The Katamama | Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia
Launching in the popular Seminyak area of Bali is a newcomer to the world of boutique accommodations: The Katamama. The culturally-led hotel blends traditional art and craftsmanship with innovative design, bringing together the best of Indonesia both past and present. Guests can experience a variety of daily programs that span the culinary, music, art, fashion, and mixology worlds.
