Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games citing “unfair and unjust treatment” from the Australian Olympic Committee.
The spat came about when Australia's chef de mission, Kitty Chiller, voiced her doubts about having Kyrgios represent Australia on the international stage due to his volatile on-court behaviour.
Kyrgios naturally pulled the trigger for her and the AOC by saying that he would not be available for selection.
“AOC's unfair and unjust treatment of me over the last four weeks, as well as the organisation's crystal clear position on whether they want me to be a part of the Australian Olympic team, has solidified my final decision,” said Kyrgios via website statement.
