The Aussie bad boy of tennis is at it again. After his controversial display at Wimbledon earlier in the year in which many labelled the rising tennis star a quitter, Nick Kyrgios has again started a flame war with a tournament figure - this time with his main opponent in Montreal, Stan Wawrinka.
In the footage below, audio is captured of the 20-year old muttering to his opponent after he lost the first set with “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate,” in reference to his Australian teammate Thanasi Kokkinakis.
In the post-match interview when Kyrgios was asked about the incident, he responded: “You know, I thought ah, you know, he was getting a bit lippy at me, so I don't know, it's just in the moment sort of stuff. But yeah, I don't really know. I just said it.
