2033 will be the year that humans finally reach the red planet of Mars. That is, if the predictions of Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's latest National Geographic miniseries gets it right.
The six-part semi-sci-fi drama and documentary will integrate interviews from today's most visionary minds and scientists to help tell the story of the future of space travel. The ship named Daedalus will transport a crew with American systems engineer Ben Sawyer, pilot Hana Seung, Spanish scientist Javier Delgado, Russian exobiologist Marta Kamen, French Physician Amelie Durand and Nigerian robotics expert Robert Foucault.
The crew will venture to Mars as part of the Mars Mission Corporation and the International Mars Science Foundation operating out of London and Vienna.
The trailer definitely has the Ron Howard Apollo 13 feel with a mix of fact, real world footage and drama to help drive the concept along. Speaking on behalf of the film is Space X's Elon Musk, astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson and author of The Martian, Andy Weir.
Those keen to find out what it's all about will be glad to know that the series will premiere across November in 171 countries in 45 languages to a global audience.
If you can't wait you can see what Mars astronauts will be wearing or what homes on the red planet will look like.
